ABSTRACT

Objective@#To evaluate the therapeutic effect of cervical Jiaji electroacupuncture on postoperative intractable hiccup of liver neoplasms.@*Methods@#A total of 39 patients with postoperative intractable hiccup of liver neoplasms in The First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine from May 2013 to May 2017 were collected and divided into 2 groups randomly. The electroacupuncture group included 20 cases, the control group included 19 cases. Patients in the electroacupuncture group were treated by cervical Jiaji electroacupuncture (located in C3-5, sympathetic ganglion), while the control group were treated by metoclopramide combined with chlorpromazine for three days. The therapeutic effects of two groups were compared and the onset time were recorded.@*Results@#Total effective rates of electroacupuncture group and control group were 95.0% and 47.4%, respectively. The onset time in electroacupuncture group and control group were (14.8±3.3) h and (30.5±3.1) h, respectively (P<0.01). Ten cases who resisted the control treatment were then treated by electroacupuncture for 3 days, 6 cases were recovered, 3 cases became better, while 1 case demonstrated no response. No serious adverse reactions were appeared in each group.@*Conclusion@#Cervical Jiaji electroacupuncture is an effective and safe treatment for postoperative intractable hiccup of liver neoplasms, and it can be used as a remedy for intractable hiccup patients who don′t respond to drug treatment.

ABSTRACT

'Ten Acupuncture Skills' refers to ten types of needling techniques for difficult and intractable neurological diseases. It has been summarized by Prof. Gao Wei-bin, a famous traditional Chinese medicine expert in China, based upon his clinical experience for years, including neck acupuncture for bulbar palsy, neck acupuncture for laryngeal muscular paralysis, stuck needling technique for ocular muscular paralysis, electric field therapy at Jiaji (EX-B 2) points for incomplete spinal paraplegia, electroacupuncture (EA) for urination disorder, electric neck acupuncture for waking up and treating various cerebral and nuchal diseases, EA at Jiaji (EX-B 2) points for intractable hiccup, EA at Jiaji (EX-B 2) points for cervical and lumbar spondylopathy, antagonistic EA for post-apoplectic hemiplegia, and EA for facial paralysis. The ten acupuncture skills are summarized in order to guide the clinical application.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of nucha electroacupuncture on patients with adult hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy(HIE)and to approach its mechanism. Methods After exclusion of cases with incomplete historical data from 80 adult HIE patients admitted in the Department of Critical Care Medicine of 401st Hospital of Jinan Military Region of PLA,finally 74 cases were randomly divided into a nucha electroacupuncture treatment group(38 cases)and a conventional therapy control group(36 cases)by random number table. The patients in the control group were treated with conventional medical therapies, including dehydration, intracranial pressure reduction, brain protection with head hypothermia, and so on. In nucha electroacupuncture group, based on the conventional treatment in the control group, additionally nucha electroacupuncture was performed for the patients. Before and after therapy, the changes of Glasgow coma scale score(GCS score)and Glasgow-Pittsburgh coma score (G-PCS score)in all the patients were assessed and compared between the two groups, and according to the standard criteria of GCS and G-PCS scores for evaluation of efficacy, the clinical therapeutic effective rates in the two groups were assessed. Results ①There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in GCS score and G-PCS score before treatment(both P>0.05),after treatment, the GCS and G-PCS scores in nucha electrical acupuncture group were obviously higher than those before treatment(GCS score:6.22±2.66 vs. 4.33±1.35,G-PCS score:22.96±6.22 vs. 17.53±4.68,both P<0.05),and the GCS and G-PCS scores of nucha electroacupuncture group were markedly higher than those of control group after treatment(GCS score:6.22±2.66 vs. 5.17±3.01,G-PCS score:22.96±6.22 vs. 16.78±7.96,both P<0.05).②The total effective rate of nucha electroacupuncture group was significantly higher than that of control group when assessed by both the standard criteria of GCS score(73.7%vs. 50.0%,P<0.05)and G-PCS score(84.2%vs. 61.1%,P<0.05). Conclusion The nucha electroacupuncture has definite clinical therapeutic value in treatment of patients with adult HIE and it can improve their neurological function and outcome.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To introduce electroacupuncture (EA) treatment on cervical spondylosis radiculopathy (CSR) at home and abroad in the prior ten years. Methods: EA, combined EA and other treatments for NCS are classified and analyzed. Results: The most commonly used acupoints are JiaJi (Ex-B2), Fengchi (GB 20), Waiguan (TE 5), Quchi (LI 11). EA is widely applied to treat CSR because of its definite therapeutic effects and safety. Conclusion: The validity of other evaluation indexes needs to be proved by more rigorously designed randomized controlled trials (RCT) with scientific methods.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture in treating spastic paralysis following cerebral infarction. Methods: Sixty patients with spastic paralysis after cerebral infarction were randomly allocated into control group and treatment group, 30 cases each. The control group was treated with conventional acupuncture and the treatment group was treated with conventional acupuncture plus electroacupuncture according to the principle of antagonistic acupuncture. Both groups were given routine drugs and scalp acupuncture treatment. Results: Statistical analysis showed significant differences in NFI score and clinical curative effect score between pretreatment and posttreatment in the treatment and control groups and between the treatment and control groups. Conclusion: Both electroacupuncture and conventional acupuncture have clinical curative effect on spastic paralysis following cerebral infarction, but the curative effect of electroacupuncture is significantly superior to that of conventional acupuncture.

ABSTRACT

[Objective ] To evaluate the curative effect of urinary retention caused by hyperplasia of prostate gland after treatment of electric acupuncture to Ciliao and Zhongliao acupoints combined with ultrashort wave therapy.[Methods] 35 patients were treated by electric acupuncture to Ciliao and Zhongliao acupoints cooperating with ultrashort wave therapy.Residual urine volumn(RUV),frequency of urinary retention, the therapeutic effect and follow-up were recorded and statistically analyzed.[Results] 29 patients were able to urinate after the therapy, except for 6 patients who were still in urinary retention condition.Effective rate were up to 82.8%.[Conclusion] It proved that the less the frequency was,the better the clinical effect would be.However,no matter how frequent the retention was,our combination therapy still worked, and both effects of the near future and long-term were proved to be fine.Special therapeutic action from Shu acupoint, electric acupuncture's electric current effect, and physical therapy of ultrashort wave contributed to the outcome.
